Roper Corporation Best of the Best

The community of North Georgia recently proclaimed what GE Appliances has known for a long time, Roper Corporation is the best of the best! The plant, located in LaFayette, Georgia, was named Best Employer: Industrial Manufacturing Company in a people's choice award hosted by the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

"We're honored,' said Plant Director Lois Crandell. "Our employees are not only like family, but many of them are also family. Generations of family members have worked here, some side by side, for decades. We are an inclusive and diverse family, focused on growing together through innovation and teamwork."

The Ware family has worked at Roper since 1974. Chucky Ware's mother started working in 1974, Chucky joined in 1984 and his daughter, Calista, joined the team in 2005. Chucky left for a few years but returned for "my family and the family spirit at Roper." Both Chucky and Calista started working on the assembly line but have since been promoted to other careers within Roper. Chucky is a member of the Lean department as Kaizen Promotion Officer, and Calista is an Industrial Engineer Technician. During her time with Roper, Calista took advantage of the company's tuition reimbursement program and earned her bachelor's degree, which has allowed for advancement opportunities and was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. "If my son ever wants to work for Roper," said Calista, "my hope is that through the experiences of myself, my dad and my grandmother, he will have the mindset that he can grow however he wants to, just as we have for generations."

Congratulations to the Roper team on a well-deserved honor! The Times Free Press hosted a drive- through awards ceremony on February 25th and will reveal the honors in this weekend's paper. The plant is hosting its own celebration with employees on Friday.
