Don Gregg se mud\u00f3 a LaFayette, GA en noviembre de 1993 para una asignaci\u00f3n de cuatro a\u00f1os en Roper Corporation. Ahora, 28 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, todav\u00eda no se ha ido. Don es el Director Senior de Ingenier\u00eda de Roper, una subsidiaria de propiedad total de GE Appliances.<\/p>\n

Cuando era ni\u00f1o, a Don le encantaba trabajar en bicicletas, go-karts y en autos. Sus abuelos fueron una inspiraci\u00f3n en su aprendizaje y le ense\u00f1aron a soldar, a usar un volt\u00edmetro y un osciloscopio y el c\u00f3digo Morse. Uno de sus abuelos trabaj\u00f3 para la NASA. Cada verano, cuando era ni\u00f1o, Don visitaba la NASA para la gira familiar de puertas abiertas. En la escuela, Don se destac\u00f3 en ciencias, matem\u00e1ticas y f\u00edsica y se gradu\u00f3 con una licenciatura en ingenier\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica. Hoy, nos referiremos a estas materias b\u00e1sicas como STEM (ciencia, tecnolog\u00eda, ingenier\u00eda, matem\u00e1ticas).<\/p>\n

Para presentar sus pasiones a la comunidad, en 2014, Don inici\u00f3 el programa Roper STEM Outreach. Se asocia a estudiantes locales de K-12, de edades comprendidas entre los 8 y 17 a\u00f1os, y profesores con experiencia en el mundo real a trav\u00e9s del acceso al Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda de Dise\u00f1o de Producto de Roper. Esto incluye recorrer las \u00e1reas del Laboratorio de Ingenier\u00eda y una actividad STEM \u201cpr\u00e1ctica\u201d con cada equipo asesorado por una de las Cooperativas de Ingenier\u00eda \/ Practicante.           1. \u00bfAlguno de sus estudiantes ha seguido carreras STEM? \u00bfTe has mantenido en contacto con ellos?
            \n<\/strong><\/span>Disfruto cuando los ni\u00f1os se me acercan fuera del trabajo y me dicen \"Hola Sr. Don\". Sus padres siempre me dicen cu\u00e1nto disfrut\u00f3 su hijo o hija de su viaje de campo. Varios han obtenido t\u00edtulos en ingenier\u00eda, y estoy esperando el d\u00eda en que completemos el c\u00edrculo y contratemos a uno de ellos en la planta.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            1. \u00bfQu\u00e9 consejo le dar\u00eda a alguien que est\u00e9 interesado en iniciar un programa como este en su lugar de trabajo?
              \n<\/strong>Mi consejo ser\u00eda comenzar poco a poco, hacerlo divertido y mantenerse alejado de los PowerPoints y las conferencias. Una de las frases que me encantan de los Cub Scouts es \u201cDiversi\u00f3n con un prop\u00f3sito.\u201d<\/em>
